Back to Baby Beach!
Thanks to Coach Rich Long, Tyson Poppler, Thomas Shahinian and Adam Brigges this Sunday had an amazing turnout with the Outdoor Fitness Team! Our last get together had a showing of just over 30 people - not too shabby. This weekend we had a phenomenal showing of 9 team of 6 participants. That's right, 9 teams! Including the station masters and those that were prospecting from above, we had approximately 70+ people attending. WOW is an understatement! Here is how our workout was formatted this weekend.
With 5 minutes at each station and a 2 minute rest, each team had to complete the following:
- Station 1 - Stand up Paddle to the white buoy (approximately 100M).
- Station 2 - Sandbag sprints with 30# bags from wall to shoreline.
- Station 3 - 25M Bear crawl and 2 lunges each leg.
- Station 4 - Mountain climbers x 10 each leg and switching partners
- Station 5 - Crab walks 25M
Every team from stations 2-5 were only allowed to have 3 athletes working at once while the others were able to rest. Every time a pack of 3 returned or finished movement that counted as 1 point to the overall score for a continuous running tally. Station 1 was the only event where the whole team had to work at once.
Check out what we captured on film!

The Trial Run:
Early November 2012
Today, Coach Tyson and I had the pleasure to organize a free surf-and-turf workout at Baby Beach. We had participants of all skill levels and backgrounds attend and give it their all in randomized teams of 3. In a relay platform, the participants completed the following:
3 Cycles
Station 1 - Stand Up Paddle approx. 300 yards
Station 2 - 2 Rounds x 5 Shuttle runs [10yards] / 10 Sit Ups
Station 3 - 2 Rounds x 10 Push Ups / 10 Lunges (5EL)
Athletes were not allowed to advance as a team until all 3 members had completed their task at each station. All 3 stations had to be completed to count for 1 cycle. The rules also included that team member from station 1 must tag team member in station 2 and same for station 3.
After everyone had finished the workout, 12 brave volunteers challenged each other to a head-on individual battle! Men, women and kids of all ages ripped through 1 cycle of the course to claim title of the fastest athlete of the day. No matter who finished first or last, everyone cheered and encouraged all 12 competitors until the end. In all, today, November 18's Sunday Funday was a success!
Coach Adam
